Tulum photo diary, the beach spot you NEED to visit!

I just got back from one of the most magical beach weekends with my blogger friend Molly, creator of Champagne Getaway. I’ve never been to Mexico prior to this trip and Tulum definitely exceeded all expectations. Here’s a peek into our weekend, through the eyes of our photographer and my phone. Scroll to the end for Tulum recommendations and tips. Photography credit to Gina Figliolia.

We stayed the first two nights at Hotel Tiki Tiki, a boutique hotel inland from Tulum Beach. This was the most Instagrammable hotel I’ve ever visited and the staff was incredible! I’d highly recommend staying here a night or two to experience the downtown area and lounge poolside. There aren’t many pools in Tulum Beach so this was a good spot to break up beach time.

Probably spent way too much time at this retro bar, the drinks were too tasty.

I mean, is there any better place to have breakfast? I’m having terrible vacation blues as I scroll through all these pics.

So many butt pics, but totally shame free because when you do BBG for 8 weeks straight, I think these are well deserved haha. Love traveling with artistic people and capturing cool moments.

After our stay at Tiki Tiki we moved to an Airbnb on the beach. The picture above was taken at Ahau Tulum, a gorgeous resort with the BEST little breakfast spot, Raw Love Cafe. We spent a morning here exploring and eating acai bowls.

My favorite acai bowl came from Matcha Mama, a cool little stand on the side of the road.

Drinks at COCO Tulum -a MUST!! This resort is iconic thanks to its white swings overlooking the ocean. I think I took about 500 different pictures here. The drinks were good and there are a ton of spots to lounge beachside. You could spent an entire afternoon here.

The best way to get around town is by bike. Rentals are available at almost every corner and the daily rates are super cheap!

Sorry for the icky pic quality, this is what happens five drinks in, but this resort was insane!! Azulik is probably the most gorgeous resort on the beach in Tulum. If you don’t stay here you have to at least go for a drink or dinner. There were these netted areas all over the resort, but pictures can’t do it any justice!

Things to know:

Tulum is an hour and a half from the airport and taxis are about $90.

Get pesos out at the airport, enough for your entire stay. The exchange rate is better and you will need cash at most places. There are ATMs everywhere, but supposedly there has been identity theft issues from them.

The area is eco-friendly so plan to dress in light clothes to sleep, as you most likely won’t have air conditioning.

There isn’t any wifi at the Cancun airport!

Overall, this was the best trip and I will most definitely be back to Tulum soon!
