My week 8 BBG update

I’ve finally completed 8 of the 12 weeks of BBG. If this is the first BBG post you’re reading you may want to click HERE to get the lowdown on what it is.

The workouts for the BBG program change every 4 weeks, so the Monday after writing my week 4 update I had a whole new set of workouts that completely kicked my butt. I thought I had come over the hump with the workouts and had finally got to a point where I wasn’t completely gasping for air at the end, but week 5 changed that entirely. Just when you think you’re in shape and things are going in your favor Kayla, creator of the program, comes in and laughs in your face.

Where have I seen the biggest changes?

My legs started showing change by week 4 and now after 8 weeks I’m seeing a huge difference in my abs. My stomach has always been my strongest area, but now I’m getting that low V in my abs that I’ve always wanted but could never achieve. My arms are more toned but they really haven’t changed too drastically.

How’s my weight?

I’ve run 3-4 times a week for 4 years now, so I was somewhat in shape prior to starting the program. With this program I’ve cut back on my running, because let’s be honest, there’s no way in hell I could run and do these workouts (3 times a week) in the same day. I was worried that running less may affect my weight, but that hasn’t been the case. My weight has stayed the same, but I’ve gained muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so I’m thinking that I’ve lost weight and replaced that with muscle.

Will I continue?

I still have 4 weeks left in the program, 12 weeks total, so I’ll definitely be finishing out the program at the very least. I’m traveling a lot for the blog in the next two weeks so instead of moving on to week 9’s workouts I’m going to repeat week 7 and 8, then move to the rest of the program after my travels. The reason I’m repeating weeks is that I don’t want to take the workouts to the next level, week 9-12 get insanely hard, until I’m back in my own gym and can really focus. Also, I’d rather not have strangers in a hotel gym watch me as I pretty much die of exhaustion.

Still loving it?

YES! I love the structure of the program and I feel so motivated now that I’ve come this far.
