This is for all your southerners out there who want to dig into your fall wardrobe, but don’t want to sweat to death while doing so. It has been unbearably warm here lately, but I SO badly want to start looking the part for fall. One way I’m transitioning my wardrobe is pairing denim shorts and skirts with lighter sweaters and booties. It’s such an easy combo and isn’t too heavy. I know a lot of people tend to think that denim skirts are so 90’s and out of style, but honestly they were everywhere at New York Fashion Week. As long as you’re not pairing your skirt with crimped hair and blue eyeshadow I think you’ll be ok
This weekend I’m heading up to Newport, Rhode Island this weekend to watch Ryan race (sail boats) and I’m SO excited to be packing boots and jackets! I’ll be snap chatting the entire time so make sure to follow along @madsmesser

My college girl friends mean the world to me and nowadays it seems like we’re spread out across the country. I miss having them nearby and we try really hard to get together a few times a year, but in-between I like to stay connected. Yes, we use facetime and Instagram and all those technologies, but honestly nothing is more personal to me, than a hand written card.
Back in school my friends and I used to blast Taylor Swift while getting ready to head out to dinner, or whatever it was that we were getting into at that time. What better way to let them know I’m thinking about them than sending a card from the new Papyrus Taylor Swift collection! The collection features 44 hand crafted cards to celebrate most occasions, but most importantly friendship.
These cards are exclusive to Target and I’m telling you, I had the toughest time figuring out which cards to pick! There were too many adorable options to choose from.
Look for the Taylor Swift logo to find some of the cutest cards you’ll ever meet, in the card isle of Target. I finally settled on these two after LOTS of deliberation! I love this new collection inspired by Taylor Swift and I know my friends will too.
Here are some steps to help you stay close and connected to your gal pals:
Schedules get busier as we get older so make sure to plan ahead with phone calls or face-times. If it’s on your calendar you can be prepared and set aside that time.
Send little tokens to show them you care! I send my friends candy at halloween and little trinkets that represent inside jokes, to show them I’m thinking about them.
Plan a weekend trip at least once a year. My college friends and I live miles and miles apart, but we always make it a point to do at least one girls weekend a year in one of our current towns. This November we will all be meeting up in Boston for a weekend full of shopping, exploring and catching up.
Send hand written cards. This is an inexpensive option that goes a long way. Something is so special about receiving a card in the mail. People don’t do this as much today and it’s something I wish I did more often.
Text through your favorite shows. Do you both watch the same show religiously? Plan to live text through the show and talk about how funny or how surprising that last scene was, each commercial break.
Nothing gets my creative juices flowing like blasting music in my blogging office. My current playlist includes any girl power jams, which of course includes all of Meghan Trainor’s hits! Her Untouchable Tour is definitely on the list of concerts I want to see. I love anyone who focuses on empowering women and Meghan is all about loving her body and rocking the tightest of tight outfits thanks to Tampax and Tampax Radiant. I think we all need to jump on board the #WearWhatYouWant train. No girl should ever feel like she’s dressing for anyone other than herself. Follow in Meghan’s footsteps and #BeRadiant!
I wear what I want and how I want. No one is telling me how to dress and that’s one of the reasons my blog does so well. People want to see new looks and I wouldn’t be fashion forward if I tried to look like everyone else. Thanks to #Tampax I don’t have to compromise my wardrobe when it’s that time of the month. Instead, I rock those tight white jeans and sun dresses. I dare to wear what I want ALL month long.
Had to throw in this shot of Olive. What a cutie!! She saw me dancing around and had to join in on the fun. Another reason to use Tampax, you can dance around all you want thanks to their LeakGuard™. Now, leak free periods are possible.
Pump up the music, people! It’s Wednesday, which means we are halfway to the weekend.
I’m sharing #Tampax in my life as part of an #TampaxCrowd sponsored series for Socialstars™ #sp
I was SHOCKED at how many people ended up liking this look on my Instagram! Sometimes I put an outfit together and think “hmmm… this could either look really cute or really weird”. I wore this to dinner Sunday night and Ryan was kind of looking me up and down when I saw him, which all girls know is the worst thing a guy can do when you’re unsure of your look. I trust his fashion sense but I had to override him on this one because I was confident that this was a perfect, casual, date night look. Sorry Ry.
I bought this KALE shirt months ago in California, and no joke, I wear it ALL the time. I’ve worn it with jeans, leggings, denim shorts, workout spandex and now a maxi skirt. Gotta love having versatile things like that in your closet. Like I always say, don’t be afraid to try out new things, like tying up a shirt or pairing casual shoes with a dressy skirt. Looking back I wish I had worn this look with a pair of Adidas, but oh well, I’ll do that next time.
SO many labels jumped on the laced up trend this fall, from laced t-shirts to laced sweaters and body suits. At first, I’ll admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of this style, but after trying on this sweater my mind was changed. Finding a cozy and fashionable sweater can be tricky. I feel like you normally have to pick either being comfortable or looking cute when it comes to winter tops, yet this one is both! Also, yes I know, I’m wearing white and it’s after Labor Day… You guys!! It was 95 degrees this week in Orlando so the whole white jean rule doesn’t apply here. If it’s hot out you better bet I’m still rocking the white jean look.
On another note, I just finished the book The Woman in Cabin 10. LOVED IT! Add it to your reading list and email me afterwards if you love it like I did. I’d compare it to The Girl on The Train.
Happy Sunday, you all! Hope you’re relaxing and hanging with loved ones.
Grab a cup of pumpkin coffee, put on some comfy clothes and snuggle in, because I’m telling you all some fun facts about myself and the blog that most readers don’t know.
Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. Super small liberal arts school, less than 1,900 people. I knew I wanted to stay close to home (Windermere, FL) so I didn’t have many choices going into the application process. The campus is set on a lake and there’s a pool right outside the library. People like to refer to it as a country club college. Loved it and wouldn’t have changed a thing about my college experience!
YES! Go Kappa Delta!
Just turned 25!! If you follow me on Instagram (you can follow on the right side of this page) then you have already seen my obnoxious birthday posts from two weeks ago.
Hair color, natural or fake:
I wish!! I will say that the bottom half of my hair, if I were to put my hair half up and half down, is completely natural and has never been touched with bleach. The top half of my hair gets partial highlights about once every 3 months. I always make sure to do honey and bleach blonde highlights to keep it looking more natural.
Yes, one little brother. Although, he’s over 6 feet he’s still my little brother. He’s 23 and single, so ladies email me 😉 -he’s going to kill me.
Is blogging my full-time job?:
Nope. I hope for it to become my sole job in a year or two, but in the meantime I work from home for a timeshare broker re-renting peoples timeshares. If you ever want to vacation in a bigger villa for less email me Madison@ConciergeRealty.com (unashamed work plug right there ha ha)

Casual day of errands calls for a comfy flannel and messy bun. Target runs always turn into an hour long ordeal, even if I go in intending to grab a salad and dry shampoo then leave. Somehow I get sucked into the makeup aisle, then I see the cutest blanket scarf, and then boom… I’m down in the Target rabbit hole and I’ll see you when I find my way out (insert monkey covering his eyes emoji).
People are all about the PSLs this season, pumpkin spice latte, but those things are SO bad for you. I love pumpkin, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not willing to suck down a billion calories for the heavenly taste of a PSL. Instead, I get an venti iced coffee with 3 pumps of pumpkin flavoring and skim milk. Wha- la, pumpkin goodness without the insane sugar and calories.
This flannel is on sale for $26, comes in different prints, and I’ve already worn it a handful of times since I got it. There’s nothing better than a comfy shirt that feels like pajamas, but looks acceptable in public. Also, these booties are so comfy that I went back to Old Navy and got them in black, as well. Gotta love those good Old Navy finds!
I posted this look on Instagram less than two days ago and I’ve already had 28 people buy this flattering dress, which comes in 4 colors!! I think that dresses like this are such great additions to your closet because they’re incredibly versatile and they’ll never fail at making you feel good. I paired this look with sneakers, mine are Golden Goose, but I’ve also seen another blogger wear it with booties and a jean jacket. You can never have too many comfy dresses and this one takes the cake in the comfy department. Ok… so I know a lot of people are having a hard time getting into the sneakers with dresses trend, but let me tell you, this combo is a lifesaver. Sneakers are beyond comfortable and they are now acceptable to wear with almost anything, thanks to the fashion gods. I’m linking a bunch of my favorite sneakers below for you guys. Don’t be afraid to give this trend a try!! I know your feet will be thanking me later.
For those of us who don’t have the money to completely transform our wardrobe each season, aka most of the world, there are a few other ways to get new looks without breaking the bank. I LOVE my denim jacket, and wear it way too much, because it transitions any of my summer/ spring dresses to fall. Taking your closet to the next season can be done with just a few additional pieces.
Fall additions every girl should invest in:
Booties (one lighter color and one black pair) these don’t need to be expensive
Black designer boots (invest in them and they will last years) Tory Burch has great sales and their products will hold up well through fall and winter. I still have a pair from three years ago
Fall floppy hat
Moto or leather leggings
One great pair of designer jeans, I prefer Joe Jeans or AG
I’m 25… how and when did this happen? I still remember my surprise sweet 16 party like it was yesterday. I spent the weekend with friends and family, drinking lots of Skinny Girl Margaritas, eating one too many pieces of cake and laughing until the early morning while playing heads up (adult version). Here’s a small look into my birthday weekend at Vero Beach…
Thank you to everyone who sent me texts, Facebook posts, Instagram comments etc. I feel so incredibly lucky and loved! Here’s to 25 and working to accomplish new goals.
