This is my all-time favorite beach braid, and if you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably seen me wear it a few times, and a few different ways. Sorry for the rough quality… This video was shot quickly before heading to dinner with the fam, but I figured what better place to film a beach braid tutorial than at the beach!? I’m using Barefoot Blonde Hair Extensions in the color Sandy Blonde for this look. I only started wearing extensions about 4 months ago, and the main reason I bought them was to braid my hair with. I LOVE this brand and if you’re thinking about getting them, I only have amazing things to say! (Not sponsored, just really love them!)
You can’t go wrong with a summer two piece set, and this fun red short/halter duo is no exception. This set is from the site SheIn, a company based in China. People are always asking me how to order from there and what I really think about it. I mentioned this in an earlier post last week, but thought I’d give you guys some tips for navigating the site.
ALWAYS read reviews!! Products with a ton of reviews are usually going to look exactly like the picture and have great quality.
Stay away from the swimwear. I’ve had a few bikini tops that have come in and were ADORABLE, but the bottoms are always a miss. Their swimwear sizing tends to run really small so even a medium would cut off my circulation.
Don’t order the product if you need it really soon. I always get my things in a reasonable time, but a lot of people complain that their stuff can randomly take a while.
Think about fabric. Cotton stuff is always good, but sometimes if a product looks like it’s a stiff or papery material it will look cheap.
Hope you guys aren’t too sick of seeing Nordstrom Sale stuff yet! I keep logging on every day to find new things I want and yesterday I placed a HUGE order for beauty and home stuff. Below you’ll find my favorite perfume, which I got for my birthday 2 years ago and it’s honestly the best smelling perfume I’ve ever owned. You’ll also find a set of Diptyque candles, which can smell up an entire house when burned, seriously amazing!!
I’m always getting questions about my eyelashes and the serum I use is on sale, you’ll get 2 tubes for the price of 1! The rest of the products are ones I’ve been dying to try out or have heard about through bloggers and friends.
This baby doll dress just earned itself a spot at the front of my closet. Yes, I keep my best and favorite pieces out on a rolling rack so I can be reminded that I have them and wear them non-stop. Also, sorry for the massive overload of wrinkles in these pictures… sometimes when I shoot blog pictures I’ll do 2-3 looks at a time and I have to change looks in the car… hence the wrinkles. Also, shooting outside in the Florida heat is NO joke! My hair looked so calm, cool and collected until I stepped out of the house where it took on a mind of its own.
This dress is a size small and fits very true to size. I know some people are worried about ordering stuff from this website, but that’s what I’m here for. I get about 3-5 things a month from them and I only post the pieces I love. If something is made of a cheap material or fits wrong, I don’t post it. If you’re still not wanting to order my dress from that site, I’ve linked similar options below that are also perfect for summer and fall.
So if you follow me on Instagram stories you saw this whole debacle unfold about 3 weeks ago. Here’s the story (nightmare) of my most recent trip to the hair salon.
The day I was flying out to California for a little family reunion I headed into the hair salon to get a quick root touch-up. For as long as I can remember I have always gotten partial highlights and a trim. This time my stylist wanted to add in a little color to the ends of the bottom half of my hair to blend everything together. She also toned me with an ashy color. I don’t realllly know these hair terms, but this is what we discussed. My natural color is a dirty/ashy blonde so that was the reasoning behind an ashy toner. Prior to this stylist I rarely got my hair toned. I love the whole golden and brassy blonde look— and after this I’ll be extremely careful when it comes to letting anyone tone my hair.
I don’t want to get into bashing my salon or hair stylist, so I’m leaving names out of this. I’m not sure what went wrong but I didn’t notice anything until I got into the car, probably because I was rushing out of there to head straight to the airport. I was at a stoplight when I looked down and saw this strip of hair that was stark white. Minor heart attack… Then I got to a mirror and realized my hair was overly bleached and then at closer glance everything looked totally grey and purple. It was bad!!!! You know it’s bad when your dad notices it. This picture is from the airport and you can’t really tell, but this is the only evidence I have from the debacle.
Notice the hat….ha ha. I was not about to show this hair to anyone!
My main concern, above and beyond the color issue, was the fact that my hair looked so fried and felt like straw. My hair is my baby and I was so disappointed that my hard work caring for it had all gone to shit. I cried from the car all the way onto the plane…. my parents wanted to kill me. I called my aunt from the plane, who lives in California, and asked her if she could get me in with someone first thing the next morning to try and fix my hair before the weekend full of events and pictures. I was not about to go the whole weekend with grey hair. Nope.
The next morning I got into an AMAZING hair salon in Manhattan Beach, Hush Hush Hair Salon, and here’s what the stylist did to help fix my hair. Hopefully these tips can help someone in the future if something similar happens to them.
The stylist first put a gloss on my hair (not sure what that means) but he said he really didn’t want to add more color because of the damage my hair had already gone through. Then he washed that out and put a Shu Uemura conditioner that brings out golds in blondes, kind of like the opposite of purple conditioner. He left the conditioner on for about 5 minutes. Those two things crazy helped my hair color, so I left the salon looking a little better than before. From then on I’ve been sleeping in hair masks, continuing use of the gold Shu conditioner (2 times a week) and I stopped using heat products as much as I can!
Let me end this by saying, I completely understand that this is not a really tragic event and much worse things are happening on every corner, every day. I can already picture people messaging me telling me I’m being overly dramatic, so I want you to know I’m fully aware that I probably didn’t need to cry for two hours straight… but hey, that’s me! I’ve always been a crier and it’s not going to end anytime soon.
I sat in a dressing room for 2 hours and tried on the best sale pieces so you don’t have to!
Orlando doesn’t have a Nordstrom anymore (still bitter) so I had to drive an hour and a half away to get my hands on these sale goodies. The entire drive there I was complaining and asking my mom, who tagged along, if she thought it was all going to be worth it. Answer, it was SO worth it. A lot of the things I loved online didn’t look that great in person, and vis versa. My family is heading to Iceland in August so I was on the hunt for warm, adventure looks. It’s tough to try on sweaters and booties while it’s 95 degrees outside, but the prices were too good to pass up on.
Here’s everything I wore in order of what you see:
When every dress is so good, you can’t pick just one… Seriously though, I’ve been obsessing over Impressions very own clothing line, Meritt. If you’re looking for a perfect, go-to, summer dress this brand is your jackpot! P.S. all of the dresses I styled (and more) are on sale right now, so head over before they sell out!!
If this bag doesn’t just scream SUMMER, then I don’t know what does!
I’m writing this as I pack for my upcoming trip to Hilton Head Island, the cutest beach town in South Carolina that my family’s been going to for over 15 years now, and this ADORABLE little lemon Vera Bradley cross-body bag is definitely coming with! Also, if you head to their website right now you can snag this cutie for 50% off.
If you follow me on Instagram (you can follow me on the right side of this page) then you already know how obsessed I am with the bodysuit and denim short combo this summer, like I wear it multiple times a week. The way I can keep wearing the same combo, while still creating new looks is by changing up my accessories. I’ll throw on a new bag, add different earrings and switch up my shoes for an entirely new look. Easy peasy.
Don’t miss out on Vera Bradley’s Star-Spangled Savings Event, happening now until July 4th! They’re offering 50% off all sale styles and a FREE beach towel with any purchase of $100 or more.
Just got home from a quick trip to California and HAD to share this styled shoot I did for the blog! We stayed a few nights right on the beach in Del Mar and that’s where we took these pictures. The two other blondies are my younger cousins, and yes they look A LOT like me!
